Time to say goodbye

I can’t believe today was Jingle’s last day with us. We made sure that it was a very special last day, one to remember.

When Anders woke up he found Jingle on a wrapped up box with a note saying to check mummy’s computer as a message would be waiting there. The present was a box of Knex kids which Anders loves playing with.

The message was from Santa (he had run out of printer ink…) saying that as it was Jingle’s last day we were allowed to touch him and give him as many kisses and cuddles as we like. Jingle wouldn’t need his magic due to Santa taking him back on his sleigh. Anders couldn’t wait to give him a big cuddle. He then carried him around all day, letting him join in in all his activities (which were very relaxed today). We watched films together, played, danced to Christmas songs and got ready for German Christmas celebrations.

After our ‘Bescherung’ (the German present giving) it was time to say goodbye to Jingle. He got many more cuddles and kisses and then we put him by Santa’s thank you treats and the sack that will hopefully be filled in the morning.

I am sad. I must admit, I shed a tear or two as I thoroughly enjoyed having our little elf here. I really look forward to continuing this wonderful tradition next year. Until then – Merry Christmas and have a great year everyone!

Turtle surprise

Today was a very exciting day. We woke up to a note from Jingle. The note said:” Dear Anders, you won’t find me in the house today, but don’t worry, you’ll find me somewhere else soon. I know that your mummy and daddy are planning a big surprise for you (remember, I’m always listening) and I want to be there with you and see your happy face. So, don’t look in the house and I’ll see you later in a special place. Your friend, Jingle”.

Anders was happy with this note and shortly after we got ready. We then found Jingle in the car, he had been waiting there for us with his big smile.

The drive to the surprise took us over an hour, Anders was a good boy throughout the journey and he looked forward to finding out what his surprise was. Parked up he realised that we were at his favourite aquatic shop, Wharf Aquatics. He loves looking at the reptiles and fish there and for a fish obsessed family like us it is the perfect day out. What he didn’t know was that we also went there to get his early Christmas present. Anders had wanted turtles for many months and he wrote this wish on his list to Santa. Santa had called us to let us know that he can’t transport turtles on his sleigh so he asked us to get them instead. And so we did. When Anders found out he was very excited. We chose all the equipment we needed and then our three turtles.

On the way back we had a very smiley boy in the back seat, he was so happy. A quick stop at McDonald’s made his day even more perfect. Jingle was watching the new pets in their tub and enjoyed the happy atmosphere.

Once home we set up the tank and watched our new pets. Jingle joined us too. Anders loves them and so do we. Let the 10 to 100 years commitment commence.

Snowflakes & Paperchains

Jingle had a very busy night cutting snowflakes and making paper chains. The living room was filled. Anders loved it, but thankfully he understood that we couldn’t leave it all hanging up like this as it would be too cluttered (That’s my boy!).
For those who wonder – no I didn’t cut them all up myself, those were all in my classroom, my pupils made them and at least they were put to use rather than wasted.

Choo Choo

Jingle built a train track during the night and was found playing.

Hide and seek

Jingle, where are you? Where are you? Anders had to look very hard to find him this morning. Jingle played some hide and seek and he was in Anders’ wardrobe. Trust me, without the camera flash it was quite hard to spot him.

Solitaire

I love playing solitaire on the ipod, it’s one of my favourite games. Jingle must have been watching me as he got himself a set of cards and we found him playing solitaire. Anders must have woken up right before Jingle was going to place the Queen on the King. After finding him we got ready for school and Jingle managed to finish his game without us watching.

Girlfriend

Jingle brought back a little girlfriend from the North Pole. From what we heard his elf buddies were building her and he fell in love with her, so he had to bring her back. Aren’t they a lovely couple?

Wrapped up

It took Anders quite a while to find Jingle today. He had wrapped himself up and hid under the Christmas tree. He must have been watching us when we were wrapping up presents for friends yesterday and tried it out on himself.

Cinema night

Anders wasn’t really feeling well (again…) so we allowed him to sleep in our bed for the night. Jingle and his friends took the opportunity to relax on his bed and watch a DVD in his room. Popcorn and Dr Pepper – looks like a great movie night.  Guess which film they were watching.

Snowball fight

It was a very rainy day and Jingle misses the snow. So he decided to look into our shopping bags and found some cotton wool. Who says you need snow for a snowball fight?

Upside down

Upside down seems to have been the motto for this night’s escapades. Anders noticed straight away and turned himself upside down too.

Say cheese

Jingle took some very special pictures during the night. Anders was very excited to see the little message that he left and the pictures on his ipod. The message says:" Dear Anders, you looked so sweet when you were sleeping I couldn’t resist taking pictures of us. I love you! Your friend, Jingle".

Sticker mania

Jingle was a little naughty and (ab)used my school stickers for my pupils. Thankfully he hasn’t used all of them. Anders thought it was really funny and he asked to have a sticker too so I granted him his little wish.
